As part of ‘Love your Local Market’ fortnight, people across the city are encouraged to rediscover their local market.

And Delish is taking part – we’ll be at Victoria Centre Market Food Hall on Saturday 18th and Monday 20th, come and say hello!

From fresh fruit and vegetables to the finest fabrics – Nottingham’s market have something for everyone!

Nottingham has markets that run in Bilborough, Bulwell, Clifton, St Ann’s, Hyson Green, upper Victoria Centre and a thriving car boot sale in Colwick.

‘Love your Local Market’ fortnight runs from 15 May until 29 May. The campaign is in its second year and is geared towards celebrating and supporting the market in your local area.

The fortnight will provide a national spotlight on markets across the country and is being supported by both the markets industry & Government. The main aim of the campaign is to recruit new market traders and also to demonstrate the importance of the market as a community asset. The campaign aims to build affection and support for markets and enhance their status within the local community.

Delish Valentines

Valentine fair

Delish Valentine stand

If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter, you will know that I organised a little Valentine Fair at Belle & Jerome last Wednesday.  We’ve had some fantastic exhibitors and the venue provided yummy canapes and three different fruity Bellinis (shame I was driving, I only tasted the passion fruit one and it was amazing!).

Karen Benson Photography

The photographer on the night was the lovely Karen Benson – and if you are thinking of a family or couple photoshoot, you really should consider Karen as her photos are done outside, in the natural light – making them so much more real and warm than the usual studio photography that so many other photographers seem to offer. She recently wan an award by Guild of Photographers for  a phot that I think is very simple but so beautiful at the same time. No posing, no props – just great photography!

Lily & Sparrow

Lily and Sparrow had their table beautifully decorated with her exquisite selection of vintage china that can be hired out. And here is the perfect Valentine idea for all the single ladies –  a girls night in vintage tea party! To organise… it’s simple! You will need… a stunning selection of Lily & Sparrow’s vintage china (from only £2.50 per person!), then you each bring a batch of cakes or finger food, pop on some tunes and treat yourselves to some good quality girly time!

Hannah Stevens

We also had Hannah Stevens – here’s what she says about herself: I create hand screen printed textile from my tiny spare bedroom studio in Nottingham, England. All my products and fabrics are designed, hand printed and sewn by me. My illustrative patterns and prints are inspired by the British traditions of afternoon tea, bird watching and decorative crockery. Find out more.

Rhea Clements

Rhea Clements specialises in creating design led innovative knitwear. Made from 100% cotton and inspired by nature, traditional techniques are used to create a contemporary look. Function drives the design of each item, creating an easy to use and functional product. Each piece is handmade in her studio in Nottingham, using a hand powered knitting machine, and then finished by hand creating a high quality product.  And her new range of cotton jewelry is absolutely amazing!

I shared the table with Katie Stainer (or rather her beautiful things) – Katie is a Nottingham-based papercraft artist specialising in unique origami jewellery and home accessories, all made using recycled and reclaimed materials. And I am a happy owner of a number of her creations – you might have spotted me wearing this beauty:

JC Middlebrook says “Nottingham” in her creations. She makes lace textiles in Nottingham, inspired by original Nottingham Lace designs, and is using bang up to date technology to do it. It all began with delicate home textiles like table linen and napkin rings, but more recently she’s been making wearable pieces in vivid shades:

Daisy Namirovski makes beautiful glass jewellery that catches light with most stunning results – her vintage brooches are a must have!

Now keep your eyes out for the next event – Nottingham Collective is heading off to Hodsock for Snowdrops craft & food fair.

Happy New Year!

Snowflake cake pop

As you might have noticed, I’ve been a bit rubbish at updating the website in the last couple of months, but hopefully you have been following my cake pop adventures on Facebook. I’ve been posting lots of photos on there so if you want to be totally up to date with Delish, that’s probably the best place to go!

The reason for not updating the website is that I was soooo busy with the Nottingham Collective Chalet at the Christmas Market in Nottingham. Thank you to the amazing Katie for organising it all and thank YOU my lovely customers for keeping me so busy!

There will be lots happening this year again, so watch this space for more updates!
