Classic cake pops Archives - delish! cake pops
These cake pops were for a gay couple celebrating their 25th anniversary with a purple party
We have now perfected our Oreo cake recipe and therefore you can now get Delish Oreo cake pops! The cake is a rich chocolate cake with milk (of course!) and crushed Oreos and covered in white chocolate candy melt. You can buy some by clicking the button bellow (they come in batches of 10).[wp_cart:10 Oreo Cake Pops:price:15:shipping:3.50:end]
If you want to re-create the cake at home, here is the cupcake version:
90g unsalted butter
200g brown sugar
125g dark chocolate
2 medium eggs, separated
1 teaspoons vanilla extract
100g plain flour
500g self-raising flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
4 Oreo cookies, smashed
Melt the chocolate in a bowl over a saucepan of simmering water, then set aside. Heat the oven to 180C and line cupcake tin with paper liners.
Beat the butter until soft, then add sugar and mix until fluffy. Add egg yolks, then vanilla and melted chocolate.
Mix the flour, baking powder and soda in a bowl, then add it to the first mixture, alternating with the milk. Stir in the bashed Oreos until evenly distributed.
In a separate bowl, whip the egg whites until soft peaks form, then fold in the batter, mixing well.
Scoop into the cupcake liners straight away, filling them 3/4 full. Bake for 20 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack before icing.
I think cream cheese frosting works well with these but you could use buttercream if you prefer.
Here at Delish we think there’s something intrinsically elegant about monochrome cake pops, so we were delighted when Charlotte Casadejus approached us to have some done for the Luxury Wedding Show at the Saatchi Gallery from the 22-23rd of October 2011.
Charlotte’s wedding and evening wear is super glamorous, soft and feminine and she uses sand-washed silks and the softest metallic flecked tulles complimenting wonderful feathers and petals.
The cake pops were all vanilla cake, but half of them were white and the other half dark grey. The white ones had black nonpareils and they grey ones had white ones, but they all had black lollipop sticks and they were displayed ‘upside-down’. They went down really well with the future brides!

We have been doing a bit of research on preferred cake pop colours and red came out top! Strangely orange was least popular. Children especially were drawn to red ones when given the opportunity to pick any of the different colour cake pops. Any ideas as to why this might be? Tell us your favourite colour!
Just a little bit of something to brighten up a day…
Blue seems to be the colour of the moment!
